About the program
Build practical AI literacy into your course
Work alongside your colleagues to meaningfully integrate AI literacy into your courses to support students’ career success. Strengthen your AI fluency, explore emerging pedagogical approaches, and develop practical course materials in a collaborative, supported environment.
The AI Literacy Faculty Cohort provides faculty with training, guidance, and hands-on support as they develop AI literacy activities and assessments for their courses.
Faculty will design a course component that strengthens students’ career readiness by developing AI proficiency through responsible AI use, information literacy, critical thinking, and effective prompting. These components will emphasize meaningful AI integration that supports student learning rather than cognitive surrender.
Over four weeks, faculty will work as a cohort, with opportunities for collaboration, feedback, and hands-on support throughout the development process. Participants will implement their AI literacy component in a Spring 2027 course and, at the end of the semester, submit their updated syllabus, anonymous student survey results, and a brief reflection on their experience.
Participants will include a description of their AI literacy course component in their Spring 2027 syllabus and share the syllabus as an open educational resource (OER) under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license. They will also be encouraged to submit their full activity or assessment for inclusion in an OER publication developed by Library & Academic IT.
The pilot cohort is limited to 10 faculty participants to allow for more personalized support and facilitate productive hands-on work and collaboration.
Program note: The program scope and support available to participants may expand depending on the outcome of our AI Innovation Grant proposal.
Application deadline: November 15, 2026.
